Northern Thunder is an
organization of people concerned about and working on issues relating to
the human and natural environment in northern and western Wisconsin.
We believe:
- It is essential to examine as well
as to act on our beliefs and knowledge.
- We come together as a group to share
and grow as individuals and to provide support for one another.
- We can, individually and as a group,
provide leadership and action to effect change at the community level.
- We need to act out an ecological consciousness,
not merely react to "crises."
- We cannot do everything, but we must
do something.
We act:
- Community Service
- Annual Chippewa Valley River Clean-up
- Adopt a Highway (Hwy 12 west of 1-94
Interchange at Exit 52)
- Citizen members of local boards which
are responsible for the long-term planning, development, and policies for
management/use of natural resources
- Keep current on issues and legislation;
attend public meeting and hearings locally and statewide; lobby; and write
letters.
- Working groups for specific community
activities and events.
- Work in coalition with other local
and state activist groups
- Publish a quarterly newsletter, "Hard
Rain."
- Act as a resource center.
- Engage in demonstrations and actions
when and where needed.
Recent issues of concern:

use, support for urban transit alternatives
