The Wisconsin Stewardship Network invites you to participate
in it’s fifth annual statewide conference. The conference begins
Friday at 4:00 and will run until Saturday afternoon at 5:00. Like
last year, we will meet at the Best Western Royale in Stevens Point, on
Hwys. 51 and 10.
People from all over Wisconsin will come together to
discuss how we can continue to work together to further the cause of conservation
in Wisconsin. Our theme this year -- "Strengthening Our Alliance"
-- highlights the Network's many successes and recognizes the need
for us to continue our efforts. Unlimited opportunities exist for
us to cooperate for the betterment of Wisconsin's natural environment.
-
Conference highlights:
-
Keynote: Apesanahkwat, the Menominee Nation's
Chairman, will speak about the need for coalitions in the conservation
community during lunch on Saturday
-
WSN Priority Issues:
Learn about Sulfide Mining, DNR Independence, Shoreland Protection, and
Factory Farms. Then talk to other people about these issues
and design a plan for action!
-
New issues: Connect with other people who care about
your issues! Learn about the proposed electric transmission line
in northern Wisconsin.
-
Build Skills: Learn how to communicate your message!
Find out about new, inexpensive technology that will improve the success
of your organizations! Work with our facilitators to polish your
organizing skills!
The meeting will again take place at the Best Western
Royale motel in Stevens Point. Last year, 200 people from more than
70 organizations attended and we expect similar interest again this year.
The motel has set aside a first-come, first-serve block of rooms for reservations
for conference attendees. A room can be reserved by calling 1-715-341-5110.
The gathering begins Friday, at 1 pm. The WSN
steering committee will meet during the afternoon and a couple of workshops
will be held concurrently. An evening dinner and social at the motel
wraps up the day.
Saturday's activities run from 9 to 5 pm and include
several workshops, a lunch and talk with keynote speaker Apsanahkwat, and
opportunities for information sharing and networking.
