Isn't This Just a
Partisan Political Issue?

Whether to defend public rights in Wisconsin natural resources should not be a partisan issue.  A recent Wisconsin survey of likely voters showed that 67% rank clean air and water among their top 4 concerns (along with crime/drugs, education and health care).  Many members of both political parties have stated their support for restoration of the Intervenors.

At the 2000 Spring Hearings, 87% of the 7,572 Conservation Congress voters supported restoration of the Public Intervenors.  In fact, when the Intervenor Office was first created in 1967, it had strong bipartisan support and approval of a Republican Governor, Warren Knowles.  Recently, two County Boards in Rusk County and Lincoln County passed resolutions in support of Intervenor restoration.
