Title:   Restore Public Intervenor Position and appointment of DNR Secretary by Natural Resources Board

WHEREAS, the 1995 Budget Bill eliminated the office of the Public Intervenor and gave appointment of the DNR Secretary to the Governor, and

WHEREAS, the Conservation Congress voted in April, 2000 to restore the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to the non-political status it had before 1995 by 95% support, and

WHEREAS, the conservation Congress also voted to restore the public intervenor by 87% support,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors accepts the recommendation of the Administrative and Legislative Committee and urges the legislature to pass legislation to restore the public intervenor position and restore the appointment of the DNR Secretary to the Natural Resources Board as they did before 1995.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to State Senator Roger Breske, State Assemblyperson Sarah Waukau, Governor Thompson, and the Wisconsin Counties Association.
