Conservation Alliance Releases Results
of Candidate Survey on DNR Secretary
and Public Intervenor Restoration

8/9/02

The Brown County Conservation Alliance (BCCA) has concluded a survey of state office candidates on their stands regarding returning the Public Intervenor Office and restoring a DNR Board-appointed DNR secretary.

The BCCA began planning the survey following the spring Conservation Congress hearings held last April where attendees across the state overwhelmingly supported a return of both positions.  The BCCA survey asked candidates the same two questions that were on the Conservation Congress ballot.

BCCA delegate Paul Mongin says people are telling him that politics do not belong in resource management.  “People want Wisconsin to return to being a leader in providing clean air, clean water, and an environment that can be passed on to future generations,” said Mongin.

Results of the survey have been mailed to just under 2,000 leaders of Wisconsin sporting, conservation, environmental, and other organizations along with a letter from the BCCA encouraging groups to share the survey results with their members.
