- more on the transmission line

With a standing room only capacity crowd at the Ladysmith VFW Memorial Hall, the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin held its last public hearing on the proposed 345,000 volt Arrowhead Weston transmission line on November 13.  Over 150 people packed the room for the majority of the day.

The hearing began at 3:00 PM and ran continuous until 12:30 AM the next day.  Testimony displayed overwhelming opposition.  Supporters of the line were noticeably absent.  Testimony ranged from very emotional and personal accounts of family and the hardships that this line would create to very detailed and technical testimony lasting over an hour.

What can be said for sure by those who attended the last hearing that was dubbed “Last Chance for Democracy Day” by SOUL, is that the opposition is every bit as strong as it has ever been against the proposed line and that the public is very well educated on the fine details.

SOUL president Tom Kreager addressed the group after presenting his testimony saying, “I am proud of all of you.  I am proud to call you my friends.  The depth of your knowledge is unbelievable.  There is absolutely no way that the Public Service Commission can approve this project if they have a bit of integrity in them!”

Although this may be the last public hearing on the matter this year, SOUL will continue to educate others who have a desire to learn the truth about this poorly conceived project called the Arrowhead Weston transmission line.
