Position Announcement
Citizen Science Research Center Director
The Citizen Science Research Center Director working with the BCR Executive
Director will be responsible for implementation and management of the Citizen
Science research projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Promote the BCR Citizen Science Research Center mission, vision, goals and
educational philosophy.
Network with government resource agencies, businesses, civic organizations,
schools and universities
Develop and implement an annual work plan.
Coordinate, supervise and administer citizen science projects.
Develop new projects in consultation with natural resource agencies.
Oversee the recruitment training and monitoring of volunteers for Citizen
Science projects.
Provide direction and supervision for interns and work-study students.
Assist the Executive Director in preparing annual project budgets.
Prepare monthly reports for boards, grants, etc.
Assist the Executive Director, board and steering committee with grant writing
and fundraising.
Develop and implement a public relations and marketing plan for the project.
Oversee updating and maintenance of the Citizen Science and NatureMapping
websites.
Act as a liaison between the university and Citizen Science Center.
Promote and coordinate research projects and activities with area schools.
Provide assistance and support to the new Wildlands Charter School.
Qualifications:
Degree in business management, natural sciences, natural resource management or
a related field (advanced degree desirable).
Researcher experience desirable.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral.
Evidence of strong leadership ability to motivate and inspire others.
Teaching or resource management agency experience desired.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent organizational skills.
Grant writing experience.
Ability to work effectively with volunteers of all ages (volunteer experience
helpful).
Hours:
Part time, approximately 20 hours/week; hours flexible; some weekend and
evening work required.
Appointment to begin approximately March 1.
