The annual conference of the Wisconsin Stewardship will be Feb. 6-7 at UW-Stevens Point. The event will feature a public forum on environmental and conservation rollbacks and a presentation honoring the Mole Lake Sokaogon Chippewa and the Forest County Potawatomi tribes for their recent purchase of the Crandon Mine.

The Friday evening panel will address a growing trend of legislative rollbacks and retrenchments on environmental and conservation protections in Wisconsin and at the federal level. Panelists include:

The WSN conference continues on Saturday, Feb. 7, with a broad range of sessions on outdoor, conservation, and environmental matters. Saturday's keynote speaker is outdoor writer Michael Furtman of Duluth. There will also be a presentation honoring the Mole Lake Sokaogon Chippewa and the Forest County Potawatomi tribes for their recent purchase of the Crandon Mine. Governor Jim Doyle has been invited to present the awards to the tribes on behalf of Wisconsin citizens.

The WSN has also invited the major party presidential candidates to drop by the conference as they campaign in the state just two weeks before the Wisconsin primary election.
